Register for the MOMENTUM Scientific Conference & Stakeholder Meeting
The Dutch MOMENTUM Microplastics and Human Health project brought together over 25 partners from academia, medicine, industry, policy and non-governmental organisations over the last 4 years. The goal of our project was to unravel the human health effects of microplastics and nanoplastics and to propose solutions to minimize their potential health impact.
Join us in Utrecht for the final meeting of this exciting project!

Scientific Conference
At our Scientific Conference on 30 June, we will present the latest research findings on the effects of micro- and nanoplastics on human health from several MOMENTUM partners. We are also thrilled to welcome three international experts who will present their perspectives on microplastics and human health, including Philip Demokritou, Matthew Campen, and Andrea Haase.
The programme will feature sessions on:
- Micro- and nanoplastics characterisation and dosimetry
- Exposure to micro- and nanoplastics
- Hazards and toxicology
- Risk assessment
Don’t miss this unique event where we will look back at the important science of the MOMENTUM project. It is still possible to register, secure your spot using now!
Programme
Stakeholder Meeting
On Tuesday morning, 1 July, we will bring together researchers and other stakeholders from the microplastics field for a Stakeholder Meeting. We will focus on different solution pathways developed in MOMENTUM to reduce the effects of microplastics on our health and engage in conversation on how to put these solutions into practice.
We will cover six topics and you will have the opportunity to explore two of the following topics in more detail during the breakout sessions (see programme):
- The microplastics index (a tool to predict formation of micro- and nanoplastics based on material type)
- Risk mitigation and policy measures
- From awareness to action: public perception and inspiring action on microplastics
- Towards a strategy for setting environmental quality standards for micro- and nanoplastics
- CUSP and European roadmap to risk assessment and mitigation
- Alternatives to plastic baby bottles
