Microplastics research on children’s tv

To raise awareness about microplastics among young viewers, the Dutch television news program for children (Het Jeugdjournaal) made a video in which they asked the question: “are we slowly turning into a plastic Barbie and Ken?”

In the video, children learn what plastics are and how small plastic particles end up in our bodies. The tv show explains that we don’t know yet whether these microplastics cause any harm. Unraveling the effects of microplastics on our health is one of the main aims of the MOMENTUM project, funded by the ZonMw program Microplastics & Health.
