Amsterdam Chemistry Innovation Day 2025

This year’s edition of ACID (Amsterdam Chemistry Innovation Day) brought together 400 attendees from industry, government, and academia. The event included a session on “Silent Invaders”, featuring research aimed at understanding and mitigating the effects of microplastics from a chemical point of view.

MOMENTUM researchers Marja Lamoree (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Laurens Mandemaker (Utrecht University) were invited to talk about their research into micro- and nanoplastics. Laurens presented his work on measuring nanoplastics using micro-spectroscopy, discussing techniques and limitations. He also talked about the model reference particles that are synthesized in-house and used in the MOMENTUM project.
