In addition to her affiliation at Utrecht University, Prof. Legler is honorary professor at Brunel University London. She has long term experience in management (currently head of dept, 250 FTE) and coordination of multipartner research projects. She coordinates the 5-year, 7 M Euro European H2020 project GOLIATH (Generation of Novel, Integrated and Internationally Harmonized Approaches for Testing Metabolism Disrupting Compounds).

From 2019-2020, she co-coordinated the ‘European Cluster to Improve Identification of Endocrine Disruptors’ (EURION), a cluster of eight research projects totalling 50 M Euros on testing strategies for endocrine disrupting chemicals. She was leader of the ZonMW breakthrough project ‘Small plastic particles in the human fetal environment.’

She coordinated the FP7 project OBELIX and served as PI in various EU projects’ in addition to numerous grants from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research for her research using zebrafish as a model (NWO-Veni, Vidi, Ecogenomics).

Prof. Legler is a European Registered Toxicologist and President of the Netherlands Society of Toxicology. She was the 2018 recipient of the Poulsson Award from the Norwegian Society of Pharmacology and Toxicology. She is also a passionate teacher and mentor to young people, having supervised over 20 PhD candidates and numerous MSc and BSc students.
